What is Comic Relief?

Comic Relief's vision is a "just world free from poverty" and our mission is "positive change through the power of entertainment". And our biggest tool, in trying to achieve these two goals, is the ability to inspire people across the whole country, especially those who don't normally do charity – to do charity.

£2 could feed a child orphaned by HIV/AIDS for one day. Without their parents clothing and feeding them, many orphans in Africa find themselves facing extreme poverty and hardship.

£2 could pay for a lunch voucher for a homeless young person who is attending an education or training course. With their basic needs taken care of, they can concentrate on learning the skills they need to rebuild their lives.

Red Nose Day is coming on Friday 13 March 2009 and is going back to its roots, asking people to Do Something Funny for Money!

Comic Relief spends all the money raised giving extremely poor and disadvantaged people in the UK and Africa a helping hand to turn their lives around.
